My name is April Smith, and I am the Residence Life Coordinator for Barton House. I began my employment at Towson University in 2014. Prior to joining the Towson family, I attended the University of Florida where I worked 2 years as a Graduate Hall Director and received my Master of Education degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education. While in graduate school, I was able to focus a tremendous amount of energy on providing opportunities for success and persistence to students from underrepresented and underserved populations (including first-generation, low-income, and minority students) both at the University of Florida and Santa Fe College. My journey into student affairs began while I was an undergraduate student at Clemson University and flourished during my professional experience working as a Residential Life Coordinator for the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities.

Working with the Housing and Residence Life Department will allow me to continue to provide guidance as students develop professionally, academically, and personally all while using past experiences working within higher education and housing communities.
