My name is Lisa Simmons-Barth and I am an Assistant Director of Residence Life for the Glen Complex. The Glen has been my home at Towson since 1998. Prior to joining the Housing & Residence Life team, I was the Director of New Student Programs and Orientation at Towson. My interest in working at a university started when I was a student leader at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. My involvement in Building Council and Student Government led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration directly after receiving my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. As a first generation college student, adjusting to being a college student was difficult and involved a great deal of trial and error. This experience shaped my time as a student and has informed my work in the field. While most of my career has been in Residence Life, I consider myself a generalist in the field of Student Affairs. Working with students and helping them reach their potential as leaders and members of the community is what drives me in my work. Other areas of passion include LGBT Student Development, Social Justice and Diversity and Leadership. Housing & Residence Life has given me the opportunity to use my strengths as a professional working with the Resident Assistant program and allowed for me to have a hand in the development of dynamic leaders at TU and beyond. Our commitment to the development of community, connection and leadership are what I am most proud of. Students are included in all aspects of our work and at the center of our decision making.
