Graduate Assistants Description

Assistant Coordinator
An Assistant Coordinator is responsible for supporting the
Residence Life Coordinator to manage residence hall housing for between 320 to 500 students. The AC acts as a liaison to the undergraduate resident
assistant; supervises community center staff; facilitates the development
of community within the hall; assists students with their social, academic,
and personal adjustments; directs the planning and implementation of hall
programming; advises the building council; holds primary judicial meetings
with residents; performs administrative duties; and is part of the on-call
duty rotation for duty for professional staff.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, must be enrolled in a Towson University graduate program, and be approved for an assistantship through the graduate school office. Prior experience as a Resident Assistant, Hall Officer, peer counselor, or student leader is preferred. Those with successful experience working with others in a non-university setting, as well as an understanding of student attitudes, issues, problems, and concerns will be considered. Other human service, supervisory, or similar transferable experiences relevant to the position are also considered.

Graduate"Administrative"
Assistant
Provides general administrative support to the area Assistant Directors and the Central Office. This includes planning and facilitating major events and programs; database management, desktop publishing, and other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, must be enrolled in a Towson University graduate program, and be approved for an assistantship through the graduate school office. The GA must be proficient with a variety of computer applications. Prior experience as a Resident Assistant, Hall Officer, peer counselor, or campus leader is preferred. Those with successful experience working with others in a non-university setting, as well as an understanding of student attitudes, issues, problems, and concerns will be considered. Other human service, supervisory, or similar transferable experiences relevant to the position are also considered.

Graduate Assistant "International Housing & ISSO"
Responsible for coordinating programming, building community, and meeting the general needs of members of international residential community.
A Residence Life will supervise the GA for the residence hall responsibilities. The GA for International Housing & ISSO also has responsibilites in the ISSO office to help with coordinating programming between departments, newsletters, and other assign duties.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and must be enrolled
in a Towson University graduate program and be approved for an assistantship
through the graduate school office. Successful experience working with
others in a non-university setting will be considered, as well as an understanding
of student attitudes, issues, problems and concerns. Previous cross-cultural
experience including living, working or studying abroad and experience
with international students in the U.S. is preferred.
