Most students bring their own computers to Towson University. Each residential room is equipped with enough Internet connection ports for each student in the room. You can also access the Internet using computers in Cook Library and Newell Dining Hall, or borrow a wireless laptop for up to two hours from PAWS with your TU OneCard. You can print from the Cook Library computers for 10¢ per page. |

Towson’s new wireless network stretches across the campus (except inside residence halls). Known as Towson Unplugged, the wireless network provides you with the traditional functionality of a wired connection without tethering you to a network wall jack. To learn more go to:

The Student Computing Services Center will help you assess your skills and acquire the new skills you may need to succeed academically. Free workshops, limited individual consulting, and print and Web-based guides and tutorials are available. For more information, click on Student Computing Services. The Help Center is the place to call for computing questions and problems. This is the place to call to set up a Towson account, which offers e-mail, Web serving and newsreaders. The Help Center is located in Cook Library, room 5. The phone number is x45151. |
For the safety and security of resident students, all residence halls are locked 24 hours a day. Upon entry, all residents must present their TU OneCard and guests must produce a picture ID and register at the Front Desk. Student staff and uniformed security guards work to enforce security policies. RAs are on duty in the evenings and University Police are available at all times. The University Escort Program is also available for students traveling alone on campus. Students may request the escort service by calling 410-704-SAFE from campus phones located in every campus building.
If you are a student with a documented disability or have a medical condition that may
require a special accommodation, we will work to provide you with an appropriate housing
assignment. Please mark the “Special Accommodations” box on your Housing Information
Sheet and submit supporting documentation. Please contact Housing and Residence Life
with any questions.
Clothes Calls
Gone are the days of lugging loads of dirty laundry down the hall and onto an elevator
only to find a packed laundry room. Today, TU students can simply check online to find
out whether washers and dryers are available. With Laundry Alert, students log onto www.laundryalert.com and view the list of available machines in their laundry room. If all machines are in use, students may opt to be notified via email when a machine becomes available. The service also provides email alerts to students when their wash and dry cycles are complete.
How Do I Fix It?If general maintenance needs to be conducted in student rooms, residents can submit their own work orders online using the Residence Maintenance Request. The form is located under the “Current Students” link on the TU homepage. General maintenance includes things like clogged shower drains and broken window blinds. |
