This course addresses the need for all health profession students to be prepared in case of a biological, chemical, radiation, nuclear or other public health emergency event. The federal government and Health and Human Services has established the following four major goals which are addressed in each of the eight course modules presented in this web-based course. The overall goal is that health profession students will be better prepared to: 1) recognize indications of a terrorist event or other public health emergency; 2) effectively meet the health care needs of patients, especially the most vulnerable; 3) effectively participate in a coordinated multidisciplinary response, and 4) rapidly alert the appropriate emergency public health system.
