Michael Bentivegna, Associate Director, joined CGIS in 2000 as a Senior GIS Technician. He establishes technology and business development goals for CGIS by combining research into emerging technologies with a vision of their inherent ability to improve any organization's efficiency and productivity. He leads the application development unit and manages CGIS's role in Statewide GIS coordination and collaboration in various efforts related to MD iMap, the States Enterprise GIS portal. He is a subject matter expert for GIS in homeland security initiatives, working closely with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency to incorporate GIS into innovative technology platforms that support emergency response, situational awareness, and decision support. Mr. Bentivegna's credentials include an MA in Geography and Environmental Planning from Towson University and a BA in Environmental Science from SUNY Plattsburgh.
