Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation's Web Applications
For 8 years the Towson University Office of IT Services has worked with SDAT to make information available to the citizens of Maryland via the Internet. To accomplish this Towson University developed and hosts a suite of Internet applications which are accessed through SDAT’s main website. These applications provide users a simple “point-and–click” type interface to data that is actually stored on mainframe computers at the State’s Annapolis Data Center.
One of the most popular SDAT web applications is the Real Property Database which allows users to obtain ownership and value information about property in the State of Maryland. The database contains data for approximately 2,200,000 accounts. SDAT’s Real Property database is one of the most heavily used websites in the State Government routinely hosting an approximately 14 million page views a month.
The Office of IT Services worked on a contract with Maryland Correctional Enterprise (MCE) to re-develop their existing website-site. Prior to working with the Office of IT Services, MCE customers could not view or purchase MCE’s products on-line. MCE’s new website incorporates a commercial off the shelf (COTS) solution that was customized by our software developers to meet MCE’s unique requirements. Utilizing shopping cart technology allows MCE to now offer its customers on-line sales. MCE’s enhanced site allows them to maintain and update information so that their customers can receive up-to-date product information every time they access the site.
