The Regional Economic Studies Institute is a unit of the Division of Innovation & Applied Research and is considered a department of the university. RESI was formed in 1989 at the University of Baltimore and moved to Towson University in 1996. Over the years, RESI has established itself as Towson University's research and consulting arm and a leading expert on Maryland's economy.

RESI Associate Director Raquel Frye is responsible for the administration and management of RESI economic and policy analysis projects for various clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
