Started in the mid 1990's the Common Data Set (CDS) is a core set of standardized questions and definitions, developed by the educational community in conjunction with publishers, for the purpose of improving the quality and consistency of information reported in guidebooks and publications.
Each CDS reports on general university statistics relating to student enrollment and persistence, financial aid, annual student expenses, student life, academic offerings and policies, as well as instructional faculty counts and class sizes.

IPEDS DATA FEEDBACK REPORTS
The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is the core postsecondary education data collection program for the U.S. Department of Education. It is a single, comprehensive system designed to encompass all institutions and educational organizations whose primary purpose is to provide postsecondary education.
