Maryland Writing Project
Student Writers' Workshop
The Student Writers' Workshop is an academic enrichment writing workshop for youngsters grades 2 to 12 who enjoy writing and want to learn more about the writer’s craft. This program encourages ownership of the child’s writing and is evaluated by both teachers and peers.

Things to Know

- Young writers work with peers and experienced teacher-writers
in a highly supportive and challenging setting
- Emphasis is placed
on choice, revision and sharing
- Writing sample of current work is required
- Small groups, with 10:1 student to teacher ratio
- Carpool lists are available
- Age appropriate groups
- Computer labs are utilized for a portion of the program
- Students' writing is published in an anthology that is distributed
to each participant
- Teachers are classroom teachers with extensive experience in
writing and publishing both personal and professional pieces
- No before or after care available
- Children may bring snacks for mid-am break
- We make accommodations for reluctant writers and children with
