"My journey to becoming a Brother was an
interesting one. I had heard of Lambda Theta Phi through my
ex-girlfriend who is an LTA (Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority,
Inc.) and then again after a joint meeting between Towson’s
Latin American Student Organization and the Black Student Union.
I was asked by my then acquaintance, Will Lugo, if I was
interested in attending an informational meeting. I agreed since
there was nothing to lose but maybe an hour or so of my time.
After the informational I was really impressed by the quality of
the Brothers and continued with more interest. An interest group
was formed of four guys and then work began on trying to pledge.
Even at this point I really had no intent on pledging for any
fraternity but was enjoying the time I was spending in getting
to know the individuals who would later become my Brothers. I
pledged Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. because of the
values, similar beliefs, and service to all communities and
philanthropic efforts. More importantly I pledged because of the
bond of Brotherhood I had established in the interest group and
the fact that through the fraternity I could grow in so many
facets of my academic, social and personal life. I AM a
PROUD Brother of the FIRST Latin Fraternity in the NATION,
Lambda Theta Phi Fraternidad Latina, Incorporada."

"Since the Spring of 2004, Willie Chacon, a brother from Beta Gamma Chapter,
Nova Southeastern University, continuously asked me to join. I thought
nothing of it at first since I was not interested in fraternities or Greek life.
However, I went to a few events with him and it sparked an interest in me, so I
went out to an interest meeting to see what the fraternity was all about.
That’s where my future line brothers first saw that LAMBDA was truly passionate
about helping the community and forming a Brotherhood. Throughout the
interest group process I built a strong bond with my fellow interests and I knew
we were ready. I pledged Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. because
of its Tradition and Values. Being Latino in college is a feat in and of
itself, adding a Brotherhood that helps create Latino leaders just solidified a
great college experience. LAMBDA men are PROUD and we are LEADERS."

"After finding out
about Lambda Theta Phi in Spring of 2006, it was interesting to
me that it was the FIRST Latino fraternity founded in the United
States. However, Lambda Theta Phi was not here at Towson
University. One reason that I joined this organization is
because it gave my Brothers and I the opportunity to become
Founding Brothers. Besides becoming another stepping-stone for
the expansion of the fraternity, I felt that through this
Brotherhood I could find a support group and resource that I
would be able to utilize to learn more about the Latino culture.
Afterward I can pass the cultural knowledge on to my family as
well as the LAMBDA family and to others willing to learn. In
pursuit of graduating and getting out into the real world I have
found that Lambda Theta Phi can help me develop morally and
professionally through its many philanthropic projects, programs
and socials. Demographically Lambda Theta Phi has already
influenced me to travel outside of where I have already been and
opened my eyes in understanding the customs de los Latinos en
Estados Unidos." - Juan Romero Jr. |
