Communications and Media Relations helps to fashion and promote Towson University's image and seeks to position the university within the local, national and international higher education communities.
We function as the university's news bureau, serving as the primary source of information about the institution, its people and its programs.
We serve as the initial contact for reporters, producers and other media representatives seeking information about Towson or wishing to interview faculty/staff experts.
Our writers/editors provide editorial oversight for hundreds of university publications, including departmental newsletters and program brochures, special events promotional materials (programs, fliers, posters and invitations), handbooks, viewbooks, the Undergraduate Catalog and the Graduate Catalog. We also produceTowson, the university's alumni magazine, which has a circulation of more than 100,000.
Should an emergency arise, our staff assumes a crisis-management communications role. We develop and distribute the university's Emergency Closing Policy in consultation with the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance.
