Commitment to Diversity

Diversity Action Plan

Goal 1:   Develop and promote a respectful campus climate and provide services that appreciate and celebrate differences.

  • Increase programming sensitive to the needs of diverse groups and strategically develop programs to broaden the experiences that include all students.
  • Enhance the connections and networking of all student groups and organizations with particular attention given to diverse groups.
  • Assess the on-campus climate related to the experience for faculty and staff of color and underrepresented groups.
  • Establish a link “commitment to diversity” or “diversity” on the home page of Towson University’s web site.  The link should include URL’s that provide links to the vision statement for diversity, educational/student development rationale and appropriate campus offices and resources.
  • Establish a Multicultural Center to provide centralized support for the many various diverse campus groups (students, faculty and staff).  This includes the appropriate staffing and resources to facilitate the connections of these groups.
