Location

Towson University is located in Towson, Md., a suburb of Baltimore, in the heart of the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Washington, D.C., the nation's capital, is less than an hour away. New York City is about three hours by train or car. Located within walking distance of the Towson campus is the Towson Towson Center shopping mall, a Barnes & Noble bookstore, coffee shops, restaurants and a public library. More than 20 colleges and universities can be found in the Baltimore metropolitan area.

The town of Towson, with a population of approximately 52,000 residents, is a “college town” within walking distance of Towson University’s campus. Towson has tree-lined streets, shops, restaurants, movies, bookstores, a branch of the county library, live music venues, and a friendly and safe atmosphere. Established in 1750, it’s also the seat of Baltimore County government.

Towson University’s beautiful wooded 328-acre campus is also a great community resource for people who live in the surrounding neighborhoods of Rodgers Forge, West Towson, Southland Hills, Ruxton, Riderwood, Knollwood-Donneybrook and Burkleigh Square.

From concerts and lectures to Division I college sports, Towson offers many cultural, educational and athletics programs and events that are open to the public. TU’s hilly landscape is also a great recreational resource for joggers and cyclists. Fitness and wellness resources include the university's Institute for Well-Being in downtown Towson, as well asdance and swim programs for children and adults on campus.
