TOWSON, Md. (April 29, 2007)—Towson University has named seven prominent alumni as recipients of this year’s Dean’s Recognition Awards. The honorees will be recognized at an Alumni Association banquet on May 3 at the Holiday Inn Select in Timonium, Md.
The Towson University Dean’s Recognition Awards are presented annually to TU alumni who have exemplified themselves through superior professional growth and accomplishment in their fields. One recipient is selected by the dean of each of the university’s colleges. Honorees represent commitment and excellence in a diversity of professional disciplines, including business, law, medicine, public service and community development.
The following alumni will receive the awards for 2007:
Glenn Stearns ’87, owner of the Stearns Companies and active member of the TU Board of Visitors, will be honored by the College of Business and Economics.
Sheila Dixon ’76, current mayor of Baltimore, will be recognized by the College of Education.
Shonda Schilling ’91, founder of the SHADE Foundation of America for cancer prevention, will receive the award from the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
Brenda Caryn Loube ’74, president and co-founder of Corporate Fitness Works in Montgomery Village, Md., will be honored by the College of Health Professions.
Gerard J. Gaeng ’81, lawyer and partner at Rosenberg, Martin, Greenberg, LLC, will receive the award from the College of Liberal Arts.
Gregg Wolff ’83, orthopedic surgeon and Western Maryland Health System’s 2007 Physician of the Year, will be recognized by the Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics.
John “Jay” Morgan III ‘69/’73, TU professor and founder of the Center for Geographic Information Sciences, will be honored by the College of Graduate Studies and Research.
