Towson University to award 3,313 degrees on May 25, 26 and 27
Taylor Branch will receive honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at 146th Commencement
TOWSON, Md. (May 20, 2011)—Towson University expects to award 2,573 baccalaureate degrees, 734 master’s degrees and certificates, and six doctoral degrees at its 146th Commencement on Wednesday, May 25; Thursday, May 26; and Friday, May 27 on campus at the Towson Center.
This year's featured speaker is veteran journalist Scott Pelley, who will address the graduates of the College of Fine Arts and Communication on May 25. Pelley is a long-time correspondent for CBS Evening News, where he will soon succeed Katie Couric as anchor.
Commencement will also feature Baltimore resident and renowned author Taylor Branch, who will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at the May 26 exercises for the College of Liberal Arts.
One hundred twenty-three students will graduate from the Honors College this spring. Latin honors will be awarded based upon final grade calculations.
