Towson University to award 1,542 degrees on Jan. 8
Theatre professor to receive Distinguished Service award at 147th Commencement
TOWSON, Md. (Dec. 20, 2011)—Towson University expects to award 1,193 baccalaureate degrees, 346 master’s degrees and certificates, and three doctoral degrees at its 147th Commencement on Sunday, Jan. 8, at the Towson Center.
Tom Cascella, coach of the TU Dance Team and professor and interim chair of the Department of Theatre Arts, will receive the 2012 President's Award for Distinguished Service to the University. President Maravene Loeschke will honor Cascella for exemplary contributions to both the university and to the fields of theatre and dance during his 35 years at TU.
The College of Business and Economics, the College of Education and the College of Health Professions will hold their commencements at 10 a.m., followed by the College of Fine Arts and Communication, the College of Liberal Arts, and The Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics at 2 p.m.
Twenty-one students will graduate from the Honors College. Latin honors will be awarded based upon final grade calculations.
The 147th Commencement exercises will be streamed live on the Towson University Commencement website. Viewers can tune in beginning at 9:50 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. to watch the ceremonies. There are a limited number of connections.
