TOWSON, Md. (Aug. 31, 2009)—Incoming Towson University students attending the fall 2009 convocation last Friday were among the first to learn “Hail Towson,” the university’s brand new fight song. TU received more than 80 lyric entries through its widely publicized contest earlier this summer.
Jeff Hosier ’08 won a previous contest to select the song's tune. The winning lyrics came from two separate entries, which were submitted by Alec Leventis, a current student who plays trumpet in the marching band, and by vocal faculty member Phillip Collister. Percussion faculty member Patrick Roulet added in percussion, and Brian Balmages, director of instrumental music at FJH Music Company, served as adviser and editor.
