When oil hit the Gulf
Coast Beaches this summer, so did
a group of TU biology
students eager to learn
about the impact of the
BP oil spill on the marine
ecosystem. Led by TU Professor of Biology Jay Nelson, the group visited Alabama, Louisiana and Florida to observe first-hand the effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. From experimental oyster beds to long-term water monitoring projects, the students worked and learned alongside experts in the field.
