Sheehan excited about working at 'vibrant' university
TOWSON, Md. (Jan. 31, 2006) – Towson University has appointed James P. Sheehan as chief fiscal officer and vice president for administration and finance.
He comes to TU from a post as vice president for finance and administration at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Sheehan has over 25 years experience in finance and administration at higher-education institutions in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, North Carolina and Massachusetts.
In addition to supporting Towson University President Robert L. Caret's goals, he emphasizes that his office “is here for the faculty and the students.”
Sheehan, a resident of Towson, says that TU is in position for great changes in coming years.
“As it was put to me – and I agree entirely – the stars are in alignment for Towson University,” he says. “This institution has accomplished much and is now entering a period of considerable growth. I wanted to be a part of that transition.”
“My philosophy on administration has always been that faculty and students are the major focus, and they need to continue to be the major focus.
“I came to Towson because, quite frankly, it is a very vibrant university,” he says. “Right now Towson University is growing considerably, and is well regarded by the citizens, the Legislature and the governor of Maryland.
"For me, those were very compelling reasons to become a part of the Towson administration."
