Kurt Weill Festival takes the stage Sept. 26–Oct. 2

Towson University and Oldenburg University present week-long celebration of German composer's life and work

TOWSON, Md. (Sept. 21, 2010)—Towson University presents a week-long celebration of the life and legacy of German composer Kurt Weill from Sept. 26 through Oct. 2. The festival includes a series of lectures and performances from TU’s Department of Music in collaboration with the Institute for Music at Oldenburg University, Oldenburg, Germany.

The festival will culminate in a fully staged production of Weill's most enduring and best known show, The Threepenny Opera (Die Dreigroschenoper). Students and faculty from Towson University and Oldenburg University have collaborated to produce the show, which runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. in the Stephens Hall Theater.
