(Aug. 4, 2011)—Towson University's WTMD-FM has once again been voted "Best Radio Station" in Baltimore magazine's readers' poll. The 2011 survey was conducted as part of the magazine's annual "Best of Baltimore" contest and collected the votes of more than 6,000 respondents.

"Year after year, WTMD listeners express their support of the station by voting in Baltimore magazine's Best of Baltimore readers poll," says WTMD General Manager Steve Yasko.

"They come to WTMD for musical discovery, and hosts that know music and what it means to have a radio station like WTMD in their lives. We're grateful and impressed by this high praise."

The ranking reflects WTMD's growing listener base in Baltimore and beyond. Thanks to a diverse playlist and strong support for local music, WTMD has become one of the most popular public radio stations in Maryland.

WTMD sponsors hundreds of performances and events each year, from live in-studio acts to outdoor concerts. The station's flagship event, the free First Thursday summer concert series, runs annually from May through September and showcases both national and local acts. The station's "Baltimore Channel" broadcasts local music around the clock on the station's HD-2 frequency. Live streams of WTMD and The Baltimore Channel are available online at
