Cardin, Ruppersberger announce $310k for Cherry Hill

Grant to assist Towson University/Baltimore City Public Schools Partnership

TOWSON, Md. (April 14, 2008)—Towson University’s partnership efforts with the Baltimore City School System in the Cherry Hill Learning Zone Initiative received a boost as Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) and Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-Md.) announced a grant in the amount of $310,479 Monday at Dr. Carter G Woodson Elementary and Middle School in Baltimore.

TU President Robert Caret, as well as teachers and students from the Cherry Hill area, were on hand for the announcement.

The unique partnership between Towson University and the Baltimore City Public Schools improves the economic and educational opportunities for the Cherry Hill community by preparing preschoolers for kindergarten, elementary school students for middle and high school, and high school seniors for higher education or direct entry into the work force.
