Academic Resources

Never underestimate the value of good advice. At TU, we take this idea to heart. Our advisers help you choose your major, plan a program of study, improve your study skills, connect with internships, integrate research into your studies, get into graduate school, even find a career.

Academic Advising Center
The Academic Advising Center coordinates advising at Towson University and manages the First-Year Experience (FYE) program. You’ll be assigned a First-Year Experience (FYE) adviser who will guide you through course selection, ensure that you have successfully fulfilled requirements, and point you in the right direction for academic opportunities. After you select a major, you’ll be paired with an adviser within your own field of study who will guide through your major program.

Academic Achievement Center
If you need a little extra help, the Academic Achievement Center provides tutoring, structured study groups and study skills workshops. The center also coordinates placement testing for incoming students.

Career Center
Career guidance and personal counseling are among the many services offered at the Career Center. The center can help you make decisions about your major, assess your skills and interests, and explore career options. You can also use the Career Center to connect with potential employers for part-time jobs, internships and more.

The Counseling Center
The Counseling Center seeks to help students make the most of their college experiences. In addition to traditional counseling and mental health services, the center offers resources and workshops in time management, study skills, stress management and more.

Disability Support Services
Towson University is committed to ensuring that all students with disabilities have access to equal educational opportunities. If you have a documented disability, Disability Support Services can provide assistance or accommodations to help you achieve your academic and personal goals. Disability Support Services also operates the Testing Services Center, which provides extended exam time, reduced-distraction testing spaces, readers, scribes, and assistive technology for students with documented need.

International Student and Scholar Office

The International Student and Scholar Office provides services and programs to more than 1,000 international students and international scholars including researchers, guests and visiting faculty. The ISSO offers assistance with visa applications and all immigration matters, cross-cultural adjustment, success in the American academic environment, use of university services, emergencies involving international students and more.
