Transfers

Are you ready to transfer to Towson University? Start your application now.

Make sure to read all of the following instructions carefully before beginning your application. Requirements for admission vary, depending on transferable credits completed and cumulative combined GPA from all institutions attended. If you have questions, contact us at 410-704-2113 or admissions@towson.edu. Or get in touch with our admissions counselors.

1. Decide how you want to apply.

Applications for fall 2012 are now closed.

2. Apply, if interested, to the Honors College.
If you’re interested in the Honors College, you’ll need to complete the Honors College Application (PDF) in addition to the Towson University Application for Admission, the Common Application or the Universal Application. The deadline to apply for admission to the Honors College is December 1.

3. Know the deadlines.
The application deadline for fall 2012 transfer admission has passed. Applications for spring and fall 2013 will be available in August.

4. Pay your application fee.
A $45 non-deferrable, non-refundable fee (or fee waiver) is required with your application. If you apply online, you will be able to pay the application fee with a credit card or electronic check.

5. Send your transcripts.
Submit to University Admissions an official transcript from each college or university you’ve attended. If you’ve earned fewer than 30 college credits, a high school transcript is also required.

6. Submit standardized test scores.
Standardized test scores are not required for transfer applicants unless you have earned fewer than 30 credits at your current institution. For students who have completed fewer than 30 credits, Towson accepts either the SAT or ACT (including the writing portion) test scores for admission to TU.

If you are submitting an SAT score, Towson University’s College Board identification number is 5404. For the ACT, our identification number is 1718.

7. Write an essay.
Submitting an essay with your Towson application is required. The topic is up to you.

8. Find out if your intended major has additional requirements.
Some majors have additional requirements or screening criteria, such as auditions, prerequisite courses, supplemental applications or GPA requirements. Admission to Towson University does not guarantee entry to these majors. Please refer to our complete list of majors to determine if there are additional requirements for the major you wish to study.
