Your Admissions Counselor: Alexandra DeJohn
My own student experiences helped prepare me for my job.
I was a tour guide at my college and a student intern for the director of admissions. I loved connecting with families and relating to the students about my college experience.
The diversity of course offerings here is really impressive.
Students have the opportunity to not only be well versed in a wide range of studies when working with our Core Curriculum, but also can choose from more than 90 majors and hundreds of courses each term.
Here’s something you may not know about Towson.
Towson has its very own Chik-fil-A in the food court! We’re also just opened a Jamba Juice and an Einstein Bros. Bagels right on campus.
My advice to anyone who’s applying.
I always tell students, “If you’re bored writing your college essay, then I’ll be bored reading it.” Write about something that excites you. The essay is a wonderful chance to let us get to know you better than we would with only your grades and test scores.
The coolest thing I’ve heard someone say about Towson.
Students say it’s the best “fit” school or the "Goldilocks" school. We’re not too big, but not too small; we're close to a city but not in one, we offer lots of academic options, there are more than 200 campus clubs, etc. You don’t have to sacrifice anything from your checklist when you choose Towson!
My "warm and fuzzy" moment.
I was able to admit a student who had been on our waiting list, and she was so overcome with happiness that she hugged me as she cried. Now she gives tours to prospective students as one of our best Student Ambassadors.
