Why Towson?
Located in central Maryland with easy access to Baltimore and Washington, D.C., Towson University is a great place to explore your interests as you tap the energy of our thriving campus community.
Our students are artists, researchers, teachers, athletes, writers, nurses, musicians, entrepreneurs and so much more. We know them by name and teach them in small classes. And we help them take what they learn back to their communities and around the world.
Learning Takes Many Forms
At Towson, you'll enjoy big-school choices with small class size and personal attention. Although we’re home to more than 17,000 undergraduate students who choose from more than 60 majors, our student-to-faculty ratio is just 17-to-1. Through close collaboration with faculty and fellow students, you’ll expand your thinking and explore a world you don’t yet know. You’ll be inspired to find better ways, harness new ideas, and challenge the status quo—inside the classroom and out.
We have nationally recognized programs in business, communications, fine arts, health professions, education, computer science, and the arts and sciences. Beyond the classroom, we strongly encourage experiential education and service learning.
Our many partnerships with government, nonprofit organizations and businesses provide more than 5,000 Towson students with internships and on-the-job training every year. Many of our students also choose to explore the global community through one of our study abroad programs.
Your Life on Campus
With 200 clubs, 20 Division I athletic teams, and more than 400 arts and entertainment programs on campus every year, there’s always something to explore. Our vibrant campus life is bolstered by the 4,700 students who live in our residence
halls, and the thousands more who live off campus, just across the street or a short distance away. And as if there weren’t enough to choose from on campus, Baltimore is just eight miles away and Washington, D.C. is less than an hour’s drive. The nearby mountains of western Maryland and the beaches of the Eastern Shore offer a quick retreat when you're seeking a change of pace.
We're a Top Value
