The information below pertains to students entering fall 2009. Information for students entering fall 2010 will be available during April 2010.An important goal for all students is ensuring that you have a positive experience at Towson University and that you are aware of your rights and responsibilities as a member of our campus community. One way we do this is by educating all incoming students about alcohol, how it affects your mind and body, and how it can impact your college career and academic success. To this end, we expect every first-year student to take AlcoholEdu for College, an online alcohol prevention program, before arriving on campus. You will be contacted in July by e-mail with instructions on how to long in online and complete the program. Instructions for accessing AlcoholEdu are available below. If you have any questions or concerns about AlcoholEdu at any time, please call Dr. Jim Spivack, Special Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs at 410-704-2512. Instructions for accessing AlcoholEduYou may begin taking AlcoholEdu for College on Wednesday, July 29. All you need to take the course is a computer with access to the Internet and audio capabilities. The course has two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement:
The course includes three surveys that measure students’ alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential. Towson University will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students’ answers. You can feel confident that providing truthful answers- no matter what they are- will not put you at risk for repercussions. To take AlcoholEdu for College, you will need a computer with Internet access and audio capabilities. Should you experience any difficulties or require support, the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Simply click on the “Technical Help” button located in the upper right-hand corner of every AlcoholEdu for College screen. You do not need to be logged into the course to access the Technical Support Center. We have also invited your parents via mail to complete the course using a special parents’ login ID. We encourage you to talk to your parents or guardians about AlcoholEdu for College and how you will approach situations involving alcohol while at Towson University.
