Purchase Textbooks
The University Store is Towson University’s only
official source for textbooks and course materials as a result of its
direct access to the most current and accurate textbook information from
faculty. The University Store carries the exact titles and editions of
your textbooks as specified by your professors. All textbooks are
competitively priced, and the University Store’s liberal and hassle-free
return policy (with original receipt) makes it easy to return textbooks
if you drop a class or do not need the book. To help you save money, the
University Store tries to provide as many used copies as possible, which
are priced 25 percent lower than new books.
Textbooks for fall 2012 will be available for purchase
in the University Store on or about August 1. Extended hours will be
available during the week of August 27, including move-in weekend.
Inquire about where to find your CCBC books at
the Customer Service desk in the University Store. The University Store
at Towson University has a new textbook rental program for select
courses. The textbook rental program provides another option for
students to save money on their textbook costs.

professional goals. Make decisions about your major, assess your skills
and interests, and explore career options with assistance from career
counselors and advisers. Count on the Career Center for help in

Undecided About Your Major or Career Path?
Get a head start by taking the online DISCOVER
assessment. Explore the “What Can I Do with This Major?” handouts, as
well as the other career exploration resources available on the Career
Center’s website: www.towson.edu/careercenter. Once you’re on campus,
you can continue to receive additional, individual assistance by making

Finding an On-Campus Job
As a Towson University student you have access to a
diverse range of on-campus employment opportunities. Work as a peer
educator in the Counseling Center, a lifeguard in Campus Recreation, a
phonathon caller for the Towson Fund, or even a cashier in the
University Store. For fall term employment, it is important to start
your job search in August using your Hire@TU account, the Career
Center’s online job and internship database. There you will find
on-campus jobs for students (with and without Federal Work-Study)
offering flexible hours and good pay. You’ll also want to attend the
On-Campus Jobs Fair, typically held in the beginning of the term. You
also may want to expand your options by exploring local, off-campus jobs
in Hire@TU and at the fall Part-Time Job Fair. Remember, a part-time job
is more than the path to a paycheck; it’s a learning experience to help
you become more organized, accept greater job responsibilities, and
develop transferable job skills that you can apply to future career
positions. Please feel free to drop by the Career Center during
express hours for a resume review, help with
Hire@TU and job search tips.
Log in to Your Hire@TU Account
Your Hire@TU account is your one-stop, online shop for
finding jobs and internships, managing career events and finding career
mentors. Your Hire@TU account will be
created automatically for you once you’ve registered for classes. Access
Hire@TU at www.towson.edu/careercenter and log in with your NetID and
password.
Smoke-Free Campus Policy
Towson University is the first four-year university in Maryland to
be entirely smoke-free. All buildings and exterior grounds owned
or operated by Towson University are designated as smoke-free,
including athletic stadiums and practice fields, parking garages
and open spaces.
Towson’s smoke-free policy aims to reduce the health risks
associated with exposure to second-hand smoke and ensure that all members of the campus community have access to clean air. For those who wish to quit, the Dowell Health Center provides
free smoking assessments and smoking cessation and education
classes in partnership with the Baltimore County Department of
Health. Free nicotine replacement therapies are also available
through the Dowell Health Center. For more information on the smoke-free policy, visit Towson Smoke-Free website.
