COUNSELORS
We recognize that guidance counselors are an integral part of the admissions process and are often the first point of contact a student has with higher education. We want to make it easier for you to share with your students all of the opportunities that Towson University has to offer. Feel free to e-mail or call us if you have questions or need more applications or admissions materials.
Get Application Updates on Our ListServ
Admission at Towson University is rolling, so most students have a decision within six weeks of completing the application. Help your students through the process. When you join our Admissions ListServ, we will send you monthly reports on the application status of your students. Send an e-mail to
kwebb@towson.edu for more information.
Request Printed Materials
We encourage our students to apply online, however if you would like
to receive paper applications or copies of our other printed materials
including our viewbooks and financial aid brochures, please send an
email to lwood@towson.edu.
With the growth of Towson University, we expect our applications to increase. Please encourage your students to apply to TU by December 1 in order to receive the best scholarship consideration. We'll do our best to provide support and information each step of the way, ensuring that both you and your students have an easy and smooth application process.
Applying Online is Recommended
Applying online is quick, easy and efficient. When students apply online to Towson University, errors such as misinterpreting handwriting decrease, time-consuming data entry decreases, and data is immediately uploaded into our admissions software, streamlining applications.
New Writing Requirements for Admission
Research has shown that a student's ability to write a first draft of a short, timed essay relates positively to the student's ability to perform successfully in college courses that require writing. Recognizing this, Towson University now requires all students applying for admission to submit writing test scores either from the new SAT I (Code 5404) or the optional ACT Writing Test (Code 1718).
SAT Scores Now Only Accepted Through ETS
Because of the new writing portion of the SAT, we now require students to submit their SAT scores through ETS. This enables the admissions office to review the essay portion of the SAT. We will no longer accept SAT scores on official high school transcripts.
