Step 2: Activate Computing and
E-mail Account

The information below pertains to students entering fall 2009. Information for students entering fall 2010 will be available during April 2010.
Towson will communicate with you using your Towson student computing and e-mail account. It is imperative that you check your TU account regularly for important information about your transition to TU, including Tiger To-Do List e-mails and other departmental communications. You may activate your account after you receive your Offer of Admission.
You will find your seven-digit TU ID number in your Offer of Admission
letter. You need this ID to set up your account. If you cannot
locate your ID, contact the Office of admissions, 410-704-2113.
Your Tiger account provides you with access to:
- Campus computers
- Your Webmail powered by Google
- Network file storage space
- Towson Online Services for bill payment, To-Do List and course registration
- Blackboard for online courses
- Off-campus access to library databases
How to Activate Your Account
- Launch your web browser and open http://students.towson.edu
- Click
the Account Tools link to the right side of the page to open the Account Tools page.
- Under the heading Student Account Management Tools, click Activate Your Student Account.
- Read
the page and then click Start to continue.
- Identify yourself by entering the information requested. Your TU ID number
is found on the Offer of Admission letter you received with your Enrollment Contract Package.
- The
system will then prompt you to set a password that adheres to the
displayed guidelines. Enter your password in each of the two password
boxes and then click Next.
- From the Question list, select a security question. If you choose
Write a custom question, enter your question in the box labeled Custom
question. Be aware that when you enter an answer in the next step, it
will be visible to onlookers; be cautious as you continue.
- Enter
the answer to your security question in the Answer box and click
Next. Should you ever forget your password, you will be
able to reset it yourself by correctly answering your
security question.
- The Account
Activation system will display your UserID (username) and
e-mail address. You may print this page for future
reference, but be sure NOT to write
your password on it.
If you need to change your password or have forgotten it:
- Launch your Web browser and open http://students.towson.edu.
- Click the Account Tools link on the right side of the page to open the Account Tools page.
- Under the heading Student Account Management Tools, click Change (Reset) Your Password.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
If you have difficulty activating your account, visit the Current Students Web portal and click on the Activate Your Account Movie or PDF under the Help section.
