Campus Safety
The Towson University Police Department is an organized law enforcement agency that provides a full range of both police and security services to the university community.

University Police are committed to delivering the highest quality policing and public safety services available 24 hours a day, every day. The department is located in the General Services Building, 20 W. Towsontown Blvd., across the street from the entrance to Burdick Hall. If you ever have an emergency, just dial 410-704-2133.
In accordance with the guidelines established by Towson University and pursuant to federal law, all current and prospective students may request and receive a copy of the Towson University Annual Campus Security Report (Clery Report). Copies of the report may be obtained from the Towson University Police by visiting the department in person, calling 410-704-2505, or online.
University Police Escort Service
The police department maintains an escort service that operates during the hours of darkness while school is in session. Walking and riding escorts provide point-to-point service. Please call x4SAFE (47233) from offices, residential rooms or campus courtesy phones. You may also contact the University Police via campus emergency telephones to request an escort any time of the day.
Emergency Blue Light Phones
Towson University has installed blue light emergency phones around the campus should the need arise to contact the police. Crime prevention should be the concern of each individual and the entire community. To report a crime or other campus emergency, call 410-704-2133 (x42133 from any campus phone) immediately.
Emergency Text Messaging
Students can now register for the free state-of-the-art message notification system. In case of emergency, text messages are sent instantly and simultaneously to all registered text-message capable mobile phones, Blackberrys, wireless PDAs, pagers, smart or satellite phones, and
e-mail addresses. The service also posts these messages on the university's Web site. The messages will pop up on the computer screen for anyone using Google, Yahoo! or AOL as his or her homepage. To register for text messaging, visit the Towson University Police online, and click on Campus Emergency Notification System.
