It is essential that you activate your student account and check your e-mail on a regular basis. The university uses this account to communicate with you on all official matters.
Buying a New Computer?
If you are shopping for a computer this summer, see the "SCS Computer Buyers’ Guide,” one of many resources offered by Student Computing Services.
The guide highlights purchasing considerations specific to students and the campus environment and includes links to the current university-recommended configurations for both Windows and Macintosh computers. Students are eligible for educational discounts through Towson University purchase agreements with Dell and Apple.
Incoming students will discover that Towson Unplugged, the university's wireless network, has quickly become the preferred choice of many on campus. This summer the university will introduce a new Dell laptop purchase plan that provides additional incentives for student buyers, including deeper discounts and exclusive in-house hardware support. Meeting Your Computing Needs
The university offers several ways for you to stay connected
to friends and family while attending Towson University. After you activate your Student Account, use it to keep
in touch with family, friends, classmates and faculty via
e-mail, publish personal Web pages and store files. You
can also use this account to access important online
services such as course registration and library databases.
It is essential that you activate your Student Account

Resident students can enjoy high-speed Internet access at no additional charge. Service representatives will be on campus during Move-In to assist you and answer any questions. Students living off campus may dial in to TU’s Internet service. You can get more information by reading TechOverture, or by calling Student Computing Services, 410-704-5151.
All students with wireless laptops or PDAs can enjoy Towson Unplugged, TU’s wireless network, throughout the majority of the campus (except residence halls).
