STUDENT LIFE

Student enjoys Chocolate FestivalCampus life at Towson revolves around the clubs and activities that you can join to explore new interests, meet new friends, connect with new ideas, and have fun. With more than 100 groups to choose from, you can find the group that's right for you.

Housing and Dining

Think of it: 12 residence halls, 15 dining locations, 3,400 fellow students living, studying and having fun together. Towson residence halls run the gamut from modern high-rise towers and apartment complexes to two- and three-story traditional buildings. There's a choice of five special housing options – International House, Honors College, Wellness, Alcohol-free, and Special Quiet.

Dining options (and meal plans) are also varied. We've got eight different places on campus where you can get full meals, including all-you-can-eat-style buffets, a la carte sandwich and pizza selections, and Kosher and vegetarian dining options. There are also several coffee carts for snacks between classes. No matter what time of day or night, no matter where you are on campus, no matter what you've got a taste for, you can find something good to eat!

Sports and Recreation

Lacrosse

TU is a great school for athletics whether you play or watch. We belong to the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) top level – Division I. In addition, TU is a member of the Atlantic 10 Football Conference, Eastern College Athletic Conference for Gymnastics, and the Colonial Athletic Association.

With more than 40 intramural and club sports at TU, you can stay in shape and have fun.

Intramural leagues field some 21 teams in volleyball, soccer, flag football, indoor lacrosse, basketball, beach volleyball, tennis and softball. There are 19 student-run sport clubs in everything from Ultimate Frisbee and badminton to cycling, lacrosse and figure skating. Activities are a great way to meet new people – more than a third of TU students belong to sport clubs or intramural teams. Plus, the facilities on campus are excellent.

Music and Arts

Eliza in Dance class

Talk about stuff to do. TU offers more concerts than Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, more art exhibits than the Walters Art Museum and more musicals than the Morris Mechanic Theater.

Our Center for the Arts showcases student talent in some 200 concerts, plays, art exhibits and dance performances each year. Performers like Howie Day, Jada Kiss, Gavin DeGraw and Lewis Black have entertained TU students right on campus.

Lectures, festivals and film screenings are regular features of weekend campus life.

Safety and Security

The University Police provides police and security services to the TU community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services include safety information seminars, evening van and walking escorts, a bicycle registration program, and referrals to medical, legal and social services.
