General Parking & Alternative Transportation Information

Individuals wishing to have a vehicle on campus must have a parking permit. Permits are required from 6 am to 8 pm, Monday through Thursday and 6 am to 3 pm on Fridays. Resident lots require a permit at all times. Additional information about parking rules and regulations, ZipCar rental, Para-transit service, on- and- off-campus shuttle service, saferide services, walking escorts, and Mass Transit Administration (MTA), is available at the Parking and Transportation Services website. Please ensure you review the parking rules and regulations to make sure you understand where parking areas are located.

If you are planning on having a vehicle and wish to purchase a parking permit, please visit the Parking and Transportation Services website(click on Permits) to purchase a virtual permit. Permit sales are expected to begin in early May. Please contact the office if you have any questions or need additional information.

On-Campus Resident Students

On campus resident students including transfer students are eligible to purchase a resident permit. Lot assignments will be based on the number of completed credits as well as housing assignment and availability of spaces in a particular lot. If you are eligible for a particular resident lot but no spaces are available, you may place your name on the waiting list and then purchase a resident permit for the West Village garage resident areas.

Off-Campus/Commuting Students

Students who live off campus are eligible to purchase a parking permit and will be assigned a parking area based on the number of completed credits. Freshmen Commuters (29 credits or less) are only eligible to purchase an "Overflow" permit that is only valid in the Towson Center lots and designated areas in the West Village garage where all permits are valid. All off campus students are also eligible to purchase an "Evening" parking permit that is only valid after 3 pm as indicated on parking signs.
