TU CARES for Transfer Students

Towson will communicate with you using your Towson student computing and e-mail account. It is imperative that you check your TU account regularly for important information about your transition to TU.

How to Activate Your Student Account

You may activate your student computing account after you receive your Offer of Admission. You will find your seven-digit TU ID number in your Offer of Admission letter. You need this ID to set up your Towson student account. If you cannot locate your ID, contact the Office of Admissions, 410-704-2113.

• Activate Student Account

Your student account provides you with access to campus computers, your campus e-mail, network file storage space, Towson Online Services for bill payment, To-Do List and course registration, Blackboard for online courses and off-campus access to library databases.

Registration Using Towson Online Services (TOS)

Registration using your Towson Online Services (TOS) account is a powerful tool that is essential for you to learn to use. After orienting yourself with TOS, you will start to see the many ways in which it can simplify your academic life and place at your fingertips the information and tools students often need.

• Towson Online Services

Course registration for future terms is one of the first purposes for which you will use this system. In addition, you will also be able to check your progress on General Education (GenEd) requirements. We suggest the following general strategy and steps:

• Consult your Undergraduate Catalog to identify required and elective courses that will advance your academic and personal goals

• Within TOS, open the Schedule of Classes that corresponds to the term for which you intend to register.  Search for the courses that you identified in the previous step and write down the Class Number (Class Nbr) for each of the sections (classes) in which you are interested.

• Open the TOS Class Enrollment form, enter an appropriate combination of the Class Numbers that you noted in the Step 2, and submit your registration.

• If any of the classes you requested are unavailable, enter Class Numbers from your list of alternates until you have completed a schedule with which you are satisfied and successfully registered.  if necessary, you can search additional classes in "Schedule of Classes" in TOS.

Your TU ID number can be found on the offer of admission letter you received with your Enrollment Contract Package from the Office of Admissions.

Other Ways We Meet Your Computing Needs

The university offers several ways for you to stay connected to friends and family while attending Towson University. After you activate your student account, use it to keep in touch via e-mail, publish personal Web pages and store files. You can also use this account to access important online services such as course registration and library databases.

Students living off campus may dial in to TU’s Internet service. Visit the Tech Overture Web site or call Student Computing Services, 410-704-5151, for more information.

Students with wireless laptops or PDAs can enjoy Towson Unplugged, TU’s wireless network, in all campus areas except for residence halls. For detailed information, visit the Towson Unplugged Web site.
