Transfer TO-Do List
The information below pertains to students entering fall 2009. Information for students entering spring 2010 will be available during November 2009.We care about your health at Towson. You are required to complete and return your Fall 2009 Pre-Entrance Health Form and Immunization Record by mail to Dowell Health Center, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252-0001, or by fax to 410-704-3715. You must complete and return your health and immunization records by June 1 or within four weeks of submitting your Enrollment Contract to the Office of Admissions. Failure to meet the university's mandatory immunization requirements will affect your access to class scheduling.Required ImmunizationsFor a reasonable charge, students may obtain required vaccines (MMR, Tetanus-diphtheria, Meningitis vaccine) by appointment at the Dowell Health Center, 410-704-2466. Charges will be billed to your tuition account. Representatives from Dowell Health Center will be available at check-in on August 28 to accept a health and/or immunization record or to assist you in faxing requests for missing information to your health care provider. Student Health Insurance PlanNeed health insurance? All students should have insurance to protect against high medical bills resulting from an unexpected illness or injury. Check out the Towson-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan. For the fall 2009 semester, this insurance plan begins August 15, 2009 and provides coverage through January 14, 2010. You may view the plan brochure and enroll online by clicking the link below. Private Insurance Plan Billing at Dowell Health CenterThe Dowell Health Center will bill most private insurance plans for services provided at the health center if you wish us to do so. Please bring your insurance information every time you visit the Dowell Health Center. We are contracted as “preferred (in-network) providers” with several of the major insurance companies that serve our students, which will mean less out-of-pocket cost to you. For more information regarding this new service and to determine if we are preferred providers for your insurance plan, please visit the Dowell Health Center Web site and click on Using Your Private Insurance, or call us directly at 410-704-2466. Students Living on CampusMaryland law requires that students moving into campus housing must be immunized against meningitis. As part of your Housing Contract Package, you received a Meningitis Fact Sheet and a Meningococcal Vaccine Requirement form. A duplicate form is available at the Dowell Health Center Web site. You (or your parent/guardian if you are under 18 years of age) must complete the vaccine requirements or sign the waiver portion of the form and return the form to the Department of Housing and Residence life, Towson University, 8000 York Road, Towson, MD 21252-0001. PLEASE DO NOT RETURN MENINGITIS FORMS TO DOWELL HEALTH CENTER. The vaccine is available at the Dowell Health Center and can be billed to your tuition account or your private insurance at your request.
