Step 11: Meet Your Adviser and Register for Classes

The information below pertains to students entering fall 2009. Information for students entering spring 2010 will be available during November 2009.

Newly enrolled transfer students attend TU CARES for their orientation to Towson University, and for advising and registration for their courses. Each student will meet with departmental advisers to discuss the major curriculum and transfer credits, and get assistance with course registration.

Registration Using Towson Online Services

Your Towson Online Services (TOS) account is a powerful tool that is essential for you to learn to use. After orienting yourself with TOS, you will start to see the many ways in which it can simplify your academic life and place at your fingertips the information and tools students often need.

To access information about TOS and registration, visit the Towson Online Services Web site.

Course registration is one of the first reasons for which you will use this system. In addition, you will also be able to check your progress on General Education (GenEd) requirements. We suggest the following general strategy and steps:

  • Consult your printed Undergraduate Catalog (you will receive your official copy during orientation weekend) to identify required and elective courses that will advance your academic and personal goals
  • Within TOS, open The Schedule of Classes that corresponds to the term for which you intend to register. Search for the courses that you identified in the previous step and write down the Class Number (Class Nbr) for each of the sections (classes) in which you are interested.
  • Open TOS Class Enrollment Form, enter an appropriate combination of the Class Numbers that you noted in Step 2, and submit your registration.
  • If any of the classes you requested are unavailable, enter Class Numbers from your list of alternatives until you have completed a schedule with which you are satisfied and successfully registered, If necessary, you can search additional classes in "Schedule of Classes" in TOS."
