TU CARES Program
Congratulations on your decision to attend Towson University. You will be scheduled to attend TU CARES (Towson University Campus Advising and Registration for Entering Students) to register for classes, receive information about academic requirements, and meet with a faculty adviser. Your TU CARES date and time will be listed in the information packet (PDF) that you’ll receive in the mail. Check-in begins at 10 a.m. and the program begins at 11 a.m.
Please read and complete all checklist items before your TU CARES day. If you have questions, contact the appropriate office in advance of TU CARES or plan to arrive at 10 a.m. on your assigned date. Complete These Items Before Your

Submit Official Transcript • 410-704-2113
Arrange with your previous school to have your final transcript sent to the TU Office of Admissions. If your final transcript will not be available before your TU CARES program date, you must bring a copy of your final grade report to TU CARES.

Accept Financial Aid Package • 410-704-4236
If you have requested financial aid, you must accept your offer online within two weeks of receipt of notification letter. If you have not been notified of the amount, confirm the status of your application by calling 410-704-4236. |
Activate Your Student Computing Account • 410-704-5151
TU will send information about your course schedule, billing, financial aid and other important matters to your TU e-mail address. Be sure to activate your TU student account and check your e-mail regularly. |
Submit Immunization Records • 410-704-2466
You must complete and return your mandatory health immunization records to the Dowell Health Center.

Contact Disability Support Services • 410-704-2638
If you will be requesting disability-related accommodations, please call Disability Support Services for an appointment. To be eligible for accommodations, students must submit documentation that meets the criteria set by DSS based on Section 504 and the ADA laws. Specific documentation requirements are available on the DSS Web site or by calling 410-704-4236 (voice/tdd).

Determine If Major is Pre-Screened
Please refer to the online Undergraduate Catalog about specific requirements for your intended major. Admission to the university does not guarantee entry to some majors that have screening criteria. These criteria may require prerequisites, minimum GPAs or auditions. Knowing these requirements in advance of TU CARES will assure your advising meeting goes more smoothly. |
Talk to Your Boss
Sometimes the course you need is not offered at a time you want. If you are currently employed, please talk to your supervisor in advance of TU CARES about options you have for flexible work hours. Knowing when you have flexibility in your job will assist you in getting the best possible schedule.

Bring Immunization Records
Bring a copy of your immunization records. A complete, up-to-date immunization record must be on file with the TU health center prior to registering for classes on your TU CARES date. |
Bring one of the following acceptable forms of photographic identification:
a) U.S. state-issued driver’s license or identification card with a photograph,
b) official U.S. military identification card with a photograph, c) official U.S. federal government ID card with a photograph, d) valid passport, or e) U.S. School ID or a high school yearbook with your photo and name and an original Social Security card or official birth certificate. (Photocopies of documents will not be accepted.)

Bring Your Evaluation of Transfer Credit
Bring a copy of your Transfer Credit Evaluation. If you have not received an evaluation, you'll receive one at check-in. It may also be helpful to bring catalogs from colleges you previously attended. A copy of your final transcript or grade report will also be helpful. Bring TU CARES Parking Permit
You'll find this on the back of your TU CARES program information packet. |
Complete Advising and Registration
You'll register for your fall 2008 courses at TU CARES. You'll meet individually with an adviser to discuss the major curriculum, transfer credits, and to develop your schedule. Students will be registered based on courses needed for graduation and by course availability. |
Get Your OneCard
You'll need to bring an acceptable form of a photo ID to get your OneCard. The OneCard is your student ID that you'll want to carry with you at all times. |

All transfer students are encouraged to attend the New Student Conference on Saturday, August 30. Additional activities are planned throughout the month of September for the entire campus community to celebrate the start of the academic year and to welcome new students to TU. |
Pay Your Tuition Bill • 410-704-2100
Your 2008 fall term bill is due by September 10, 2008. There are several payment options. You must adhere to the bill payment deadline.

Apply for Parking • 410-704-PARK (7275)
Transfer students can purchase a permit online at the Parking Web site or visit the Auxiliary Services business office in the University Union. |
Purchase Meal Plans • 410-704-2302
Transfer students can purchase meal plans through Dining Services. The last day to purchase or change meal plans is September 10. |
