Students with Disabilities We are committed to providing students with disabilities equal access to all TU programs and services. Disability Support Services (DSS) is the office on campus that provides reasonable accommodations and services for students with disabilities. If you need accommodations, you should contact DSS at 410-704-2638 (voice/tdd) as soon as possible after completing your enrollment contract to set up an appointment. Complete, up-to-date and appropriate documentation of the disability is required. Specific documentation requirements are provided on the DSS Web site. Please note that requirements for receiving accommodations in college may be different than high school requirements. Meeting with a DSS specialist before the term begins can help students get off to a great start for achieving academic success! Student LIFE Line Have a question about TU? An answer is just a phone call away. LIFE Line is a telephone line created to answer your questions about the university. LIFE Line is staffed and ready to assist callers Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, you can leave a voicemail message, and you will get a response the next business day. The LIFE Line number is 410-704-LIFE (5433). Purchase Textbooks The University Store is Towson University’s only official source for textbooks and
course materials as a result of its direct access to the most current and accurate
textbook information from faculty. The University Store carries the exact titles
and editions of your textbooks as specified by your professors. All textbooks are
competitively priced, and the University Store’s liberal and hassle-free return policy
(with original receipt) makes it easy to return textbooks if you drop a class or do
not need the book. To help you save money, the University Store provides as many
used copies as possible, which are priced 25 percent less than new books. Textbooks for spring 2009 will be available for purchase in the
University Store on or about January 20. Store hours are expanded for your shopping convenience during the week of
January 20 through move-in weekend and the first week of classes. Visit the University Store Web site for a detailed detailed schedule. You may also buy textbooks online and choose to pick up the packaged books at
the University Store or have them delivered to your home via UPS Ground. Online
textbook ordering and the Textbook Order Pick-Up Service (TOPS) are usually
available at the beginning of January for spring term. Visit the University Store Web site
for more details. While you are buying your books, do not forget to check out the wide array of
other merchandise in the University Store. Our most distinctive merchandise
which promotes school spirit and recognition consists of quality TU emblematic
adult and children’s clothing, giftware and stationery. The University Store is the
home of the official Towson University class ring. You can view a sampling of our
clothing and gifts in our online store at http://store.towson.edu. Then visit the
University Store in its convenient location on the first floor of the University Union The University Store accepts OneCard Retail/Vending Points, cash, personal
checks with proper identification (the imprinted last name on the check must
match the ID of the customer), VISA, MasterCard and Discover. ID is also required
when paying by credit card because the individual using the credit card must be
the actual cardholder. Therefore, students may not use their parents’ credit card
unless their parent is present. The University Store recommends the OneCard
Retail/Vending Points payment as an alternative.
Money can be deposited online using a credit card to a student’s OneCard
Retail/Vending Points account for immediate access in the University Store. The University Store is owned and operated by Towson University. All profits generated from the sale of merchandise are reinvested into the university to help support student programs and activities. For more information, visit http://store.towson.edu or call 410-704-BOOK(2665). Academic HELP Sometimes there are questions that we don't want to ask our advisers— like, "Is this a really hard course?" or "What happens if I turn in an assignment late to that chemistry professor?" Wouldn't it be easier to get the lowdown from another student—someone who's already been through it? At Towson, you can with the HELP program, which provides peer advising so that every last person can get every last question answered. Just stop by the Academic Advising Center to talk with a student academic adviser.
