Scholarships

University Admissions offers the following merit-based scholarships. Additional scholarship opportunities are listed below.

University Admissions Scholarships

Availability: Towson University awards a limited number of merit-based scholarships to freshman and transfer students who have demonstrated excellence in academics.

Application Process: To be eligible for these scholarships, you must submit your Application for Admission including all required documents by Dec. 1. No additional application form is required. Scholarship recipients are notified on or about March 1.

Selection Criteria: These scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to students with the strongest qualifications. The minimum requirements for consideration are listed below.

 

Scholarship Requirement and Other Information
Commonwealth Award
  • 3.6+ GPA
  • 1550+ SAT
  • Must apply directly from a Baltimore City Public School
Transfer Achievement Award
  • Community college transfers- preference given to students from MD schools.
  • 3.5+ college GPA and 56+ units by time of transfer - students are evaluated based on credits completed prior to the December 1st application deadline (excluding fall courses in progress at the time of application.)
  • This is a competitive award and funding is limited. Award criteria may be adjusted to reflect the strength of the applicant pool.
Provost’s Scholarship
  • For freshmen: 3.6 GPA, 1800+ SAT
  • This is a competitive award and funding is limited. Award criteria may be adjusted to reflect the strength of the applicant pool.
Top 10% Scholars Program
  • Baltimore City and Baltimore County public school students in the top 10 percent of their class at the end of their junior year
  • Completion of college prep curriculum in the same high school for four years
  • Interested students must obtain a Towson University Application for Admission and a Top 10% Scholar Certification Form from their high school guidance counselors.
  • Deadline: December 1 for fall freshman class
  • Applicants must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) but do not have to demonstrate financial need.
  • Recipients receive renewable scholarships and opportunities for special services.
