Community Arts and Children's Programs

In addition to the concerts, plays, dance performances, art exhibits, films and lectures presented throughout the academic year, Towson University offers a variety of community programs and other resources for children and adults.


Community Art Center

The Community Art Center, located in the Center for the Arts on campus, offers year-round art classes and workshops for children, teens and adults, taught by professional artists and art educators. These non-credit classes encourage creative thinking and individual expression while teaching new skills, ideas and techniques in a positive atmosphere.


TU’s Community Dance Program

Towson University Community Dance is an extension of the Department of Dance. Classes are conducted by master teachers in dance studios located in the Center for the Arts. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance, the comprehensive curriculum, renowned faculty and highly trained instructors offer excellence in dance education for children, adults and professionals.


Hackerman Academy of Mathematics and Science

The Hackerman Academy's Saturday Morning Science programs bring family entertainment, fun and learning to campus. The academy's mission is to excite young Maryland students about the wonders of science and mathematics, to encourage them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to energize and prepare teachers in these disciplines.


KidsCampus


If your children want to hone their athletic skills, bolster their reading skills or study the stars, KidsCampus offers a wide range of programs and events throughout the academic year and in the summer.

The Golden ID Tuition Reduction Program

The Golden ID Tuition Reduction program extends special privileges to senior citizens including; tuition waivers, use of the library and recreational facilities, and discounts on parking permits.

 

Arts Integration Institute

For Maryland’s K-12 teachers, the Arts Integration Institute offers resources and coursework designed to help students grow and develop through arts experiences.

 





The Community Art Center offers courses ranging from drawing, painting and sculpture to computer graphics and animation.
