COMMUNITY ARTs programs

Towson University offers a variety of arts-enrichment programs designed to provide a stimulating environment for the larger community.

The Community Art Center, located in the Center for the Arts on campus, offers year-round art classes and workshops for children, teens and adults, taught by professional artists and art educators. Classes encourage creative thinking and individual expression while teaching new skills, ideas and techniques. Instruction is non-credit, non-competitive and taught in a positive atmosphere.

Each year, some 1,600 children participate in TU's Community Dance program for children. Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance, the Children's Dance program offers classic training in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, Pointe, hip hop, African, stretch and Pilates, creative movement, and developmental dance to boys and girls, ages 3 to 18. Classes are conducted by master teachers in the Department of Dance at facilities in the Center for the Arts, on campus. Dance classes are also available for adults.

The Golden ID Tuition Waiver program attracts seniors who want to expand their artistic abilities. This program extends special privileges to senior citizens including use of library, recreational facilities, and discounts on parking.
