Winning League Titles

Since joining the CAA in 2001, the Tigers have won league titles in football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s swimming, men’s soccer and men’s golf. Last season, Towson had two CAA championship teams – football and women’s lacrosse.

During an athletics history that traces its roots to the 1920s, Towson has sent teams and individual student-athletes to NCAA post-season competition in baseball, basketball, football, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, track and field, and volleyball. This Is Towson gives fans an even more in-depth look at the history and traditions of each Towson team.

Great Athletics Facilities

Fans can enjoy supporting the Tigers in outstanding athletics facilities, including the 11,000-seat Johnny Unitas® Stadium (the metro area’s third-largest outdoor stadium) where our football, field hockey, lacrosse and track teams compete. John B. Schuerholz Park is our baseball park. Burdick Pool houses our swimming and diving venue.

A new 5,000-seat, state-of-the-art, high-tech Tiger Arena, scheduled to open in spring 2013, is under construction and will be home to our basketball, gymnastics and volleyball teams. Construction of this exciting addition to our campus will be chronicled on theTiger Arena website.

Distinguished Student-Athletes and Alumni

Tiger student-athletes continue to distinguish themselves in the classroom as well as on the field of competition. Twelve Tigers have been named CAA Scholar-Athlete Award winners for their respective sports, including the 2010 cross country recipient, Brandi Gervais, a senior biology/pre-dentistry major with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

A number of student-athletes have gone on to enjoy professional sports careers, including most recently Jermon Bushrod, the starting left offensive tackle and 2012 Pro Bowl selection for the 2010 Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints; outfielder Casper Wells with the Seattle Mariners; and shooting guard Gary Neal with the San Antonio Spurs, a 2011 NBA All-Rookie team selection.
