If Circumstances Change
Major changes in financial circumstances can affect your family's ability to manage the cost of higher education. Certain conditions may allow us to recalculate your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) to reflect a change that first occurs between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007.
Towson University recognizes the following circumstances as special conditions:
- Unemployment or change in employment that will make household income in the year 2007 at least 20 percent lower than in the year 2006
- Death of a parent (or the student’s spouse) occurring after the financial aid application is completed
- Marital separation or divorce of the parents (or the student) occurring after the financial aid application is completed
- Loss or reduction of untaxed income in the year 2007
- Permanent and total disability of parent (or student’s spouse) occurring after the financial aid application is completed
The Special Condition Form includes instructions on the documentation required to support the claim of a special condition.
