Entrance Loan Counseling and Loan Promissory Notes
Entrance Loan Counseling
There are three types of loan counseling sessions:
- Annual counseling for Federal Perkins Loan borrowers
- New borrower counseling for undergraduate students borrowing Federal Direct Student Loans
- New borrower counseling for graduate students borrowing Federal Direct Student Loans or Graduate Plus Loan borrowers
If you borrow Direct and Perkins Loans, you must complete both Perkins and Direct Loan counseling sessions.
Please review your financial aid offer to ensure that you are completing the correct loan counseling session. if you are a new student, look at your Financial Aid Notification or Towson Online Services. If you are a continuing student, review your loan offers using
Towson Online Services.
If you have any questions about your loan or the entrance loan counseling sessions, please call 410-704-4236 or e-mail the Financial Aid Office.
Loan Promissory Notes
New borrowers of Federal Direct Loans must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN).
New borrowers of Federal Perkins Loans will receive promissory notes from the TU Financial Services Office, and must return the completed and signed Perkins Promissory Note to that office.
