AROUND TOWN
The Towson community and the neighboring city of Baltimore offer an almost endless selection of attractions to satisfy virtually every Towson student. Many attractions are located right in the heart of Towson, minutes from campus, or are a short drive away in downtown Baltimore.
If you have an ear for live music, you can enjoy live shows at the Recher Theatre, a popular concert venue that hosts smaller shows. The Recher, located less than one mile from campus, has showcased such artists as Citizen Cope, Phil Vassar, Switchfoot and Bret Michaels. You can also visit popular clubs like Fletcher's or Sonar in Baltimore. For large concerts, downtown Baltimore is the home of several popular concert venues. One such venue, the First Mariner Arena, has hosted performances by Alicia Keys, T.I., Toby Keith, and recently featured the Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban tour. If you prefer classical music, the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Hippodrome, Lyric Opera House and other Baltimore concert halls feature touring Broadway shows, stand-up comedians and classical orchestra music.
Moviegoers will appreciate the AMC movie theater in downtown Towson, or the historic Senator Theatre located just a few minutes from campus. In Baltimore, there is also the Charles Theatre, which features art house films. For those who prefer the Baltimore is also the home to Center Stage, Everyman Theatre and the Baltimore Theater Project.
Sports fans can enjoy watching the Ravens take on their latest opponent in the M&T Bank Stadium or can enjoy Student Nights at Camden Yards and watch the Baltimore Orioles play ball at a special discounted student price.
In downtown Baltimore you can see the Renaissance Sculpture Court at the Walters Art Museum or the famous Cone Collection at the Baltimore Museum of Art. You might contemplate the historical significance of Federal Hill, experience the charm of Fell's Point, or climb 228 steps to the top of Baltimore's own Washington Monument in the Mount Vernon neighborhood. Or, you may choose to enjoy Baltimore’s rich nightlife at one of Baltimore’s popular nightclubs, Baja Beach Club or Iguana Cantina.
