Smoke-Free Campus Policy

Smoke-Free Task Force

In 2007, Towson University assembled a smoke-free task force to pursue the goal of developing a new smoking policy on Towson's campus. The task force is made up of student, faculty, and staff representatives, including individuals from the Student Government Association, University Residence Government, the President's Office, the Provost's Office, the Health Center, Student Affairs, the Office of Public Safety, Human Resources, the Department of Health, Athletics, and Event and Conference Services.

Over the past three years, the smoke-free task force has continuously worked to develop a smoke-free policy that takes into account the many perspectives of the campus community. We have held focus groups and open forums to discuss potential policies, conducted information sessions on the final policy, and arranged for free smoking cessation classes on campus. As we approach the implementation of the smoke-free policy, the task force will continue to work to make the transition to a smoke-free campus as smooth and safe as possible.

Feel free to submit concerns on the smoke-free policy to the task-force for consideration. You can reach us at
