TOWSON, Md. (December 2009) - The Maryland Higher Education Commission recently awarded Towson University $134,743 for the project “Back to the Future,” through a Maryland College Access Challenge Grant (CACGP). The project will be under the direction of Pamela Morgan, project coordinator of the TAM program in the College of Education, David Vocke, professor in the Department of Secondary Education, and collaborator LaJerne Cornish of Goucher College. The project focuses on college awareness and career planning for underrepresented middle school students and their parents. The program will establish a Future Educators Association (FEA) chapter through which participants are encouraged to undertake more rigorous course work in secondary school to prepare them for high school, college and the future. Through the program, students will explore the successes of college graduates, career options and requirements, and learn ways to finance post-secondary education. Participants will share their knowledge and experience through reports and multimedia presentations shared at a FEA conference. Read more.
