Ohoe Kim, a native of Korea, joined the faculty in the fall of 1972. He received his Bachelor's degree from Korea University, Seoul, Korea and his Master's and Doctorate degrees from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. His research interests are stochastic processes and mathematical finance. He also is active in creative problem solving research using AI techniques. He was a founding member of Faculty Development Committee. He founded actuarial science and risk management program within mathematics major. This program has been designated an Advanced Undergraduate Program by both the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuary Society. In the state of Maryland, Towson University is the only institution that has earned such a distinction. He has served the director of the program since its inception
