R. Michael Krach, a native of Columbus, Ohio, joined the Mathematics Department faculty in the Fall Semester of 1987. He earned tenure in 1994, and was promoted to Professor in 2000. He earned his B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics education from The Ohio State University. Dr. Krach's academic specialty is mathematics education, primarily at the elementary and middle school levels. His current research interests are in staff development activities in mathematics education and hand-held technology and assessment. His teaching responsibilities at Towson University include content, methods, and field-based courses in mathematics education. During his time at Towson University, Dr. Krach has published numerous articles in mathematics education and has presented many workshops and staff development sessions at local, regional, and national conferences.
Dr. Krach is a past President of the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). For information concerning the MCTM, please visit this Website. He was also the Co-Director of The Maryland Governor's Academy for Science and Mathematics.
